Country crafts are small crafts made of anjili wood of 40-45 feet length and are mostly used for local transport by the village folk who reside along the backwaters / river side locations. Even now it is widely used in the backwater villages of Alleppey, Kumarakom, Kollam. In the tourism sector, it is now being introduced in Vaikom in Ernakulam dist and Munroe Island in Kollam district. A Large number of domestic & International tourists enjoy cruising in these crafts to explore the Kerala village life.
However, in most of the Resorts, speed boats & motorboats made of fiberglass are being used for transfers & sight seeing. Such boats will not be an attraction for the tourists as they are very common in their homeland and not suited to our land. Considering this, TICK has developed different models of country craft cruisers with different facilities which will look like small house boats but are not meant for long cruises and night stay. It will be an added attraction for Resorts and also Tour operators who conduct short duration cruises between islands, sightseeing round trip cruises, etc.
